Project Description
29 RAY SMALL DRIVE, PAPAKURA 2110 | 09 298 3377

The teaching team at Papakura West Kindergarten believe that children thrive in relevant, engaging and rewarding learning environments. The kindergarten has a spacious environment and natural outdoor area which encourages active and collaborative play. Teachers are responsive to the many different ways individual children learn.
Learning dispositions such as curiosity, inquisitiveness, communication and perseverance are important foundations for learning and are fostered naturally through play. Play provides authentic opportunities for children to develop reading and writing skills, to explore maths and science concepts, develop relationships and enjoy ways of being with others. At Papakura West Kindergarten we Value play and ensure that there are uninterrupted periods of play during our kindergarten day.
In 2013 Papakura West Kindergarten took part in an iPad research project, iPads are used regularly by children and teachers to deepen children’s learning.
We believe that children feeling positive about who they are is vital to their learning and development. Therefore relationships with children and whanau are very important to us, and we value the diversity of our kindergarten community. We encourage whanau and children to look skyward and strive for success.
