Project Description
WELCOME TO OUR CENTRE
At Tuakau Kindergarten we provide a warm and friendly positive learning environment and believe children are capable and competent learners, who support, respect and encourage one another. We promote children’s independence and freedom to choose the path of their own learning, where they are challenged and encouraged to take risks in a natural environment.
We welcome parents and whanau input and contributions, working collaboratively to gain the best positive outcomes for each child. We are passionate about providing experiences which enrich children’s relationships with Papatuanuku.
We run a unique Nature Discovery programme which enables twenty children each week to spend time immersed in nature.
Children are able to go eeling, climb trees, cook over the campfire and abseiling to name a few. This programme sits well alongside our strong commitment to Enviroschools which explores and encourages sustainable practices.
WE ARE AN ENVIROSCHOOL
The Enviroschools programme supports children and young people to plan, design and implement sustainability actions that are important to them and their communities.
The programme provides pathways from early childhood through primary, intermediate and secondary school and beyond. Through our collaborative approach of building strong relationships and sharing information, we are growing a collective puna mātauranga or pool of knowledge.
Enviroschools is supported by a national team, in partnership with nearly 100 national and regional partners, including the majority of New Zealand’s councils. Facilitators from these partner organisations work with a suite of resources to progress the sustainability journey.
