(ELCM is a subsidiary of Counties Manukau Kindergarten Association)
Permanent Teacher Position – 40 Hours per Week
(Infants & Toddlers)
We are seeking a warm, nurturing and respectful heart-centred Under 2’s teacher who is passionate about Infants and Toddlers and brimming with energy and creativity to join our teaching team.
Job Code Reference: TETAKA410
• Are you a fully registered Qualified ECE Teacher who is interested in working for a community-based organisation that places children before profit?
• Would you like to work in a supportive, well resourced, high-quality teaching and learning environment?
• Are you an experienced heart-centred Infants & Toddlers teacher looking for professional growth?
About the role:
We are seeking a dedicated, caring, passionate teacher who has a love of working with infants and toddlers. You will need to have a calm, patient and centred personality with a thoughtful approach to nurturing and guiding children up to the age of two. The philosophies of RIE and Pikler underpin our practice, which is reflected within our centre way of being. You will need to be attuned to follow the rhythms of infants and toddlers, which is demonstrated through respectful practice, acknowledging them as capable and competent and giving them time to develop at their own pace in an unhurried manner. You will preferably have a wealth of experience working with our youngest tamariki.
Our ideal team fit is a teacher who wants to be a part of a peaceful learning environment where kindness and respect is at the heart of all interactions. A teacher who can establish and maintain authentic, loving and respectful relationships, with the ability to foster inquiry learning. A teacher who is passionate and dedicated to creating rich and beautiful learning spaces that invite wonder and discovery for children. We believe children have the right to a beautiful environment, a sense of belonging and that they feel safe away from home. We value our community and whānau and hold importance in our children being immersed in and demonstrating whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, ukaipotanga and tuakana teina relationships so this is an integral part of our everyday environment.
About us:
We are located in Takanini and are a play-based centre, inspired by a range of philosophies and approaches that include aspects of RIE/Pikler and Reggio Emilia. Children are at the forefront of all we do. We promote and encourage inquiry-based learning and believe in utilising the environment as a third teacher. We are guided by respectful practice and are passionate about inquiry-based learning and striving towards bringing this to life in our Centre.
If you are reflective teacher, someone who uses their initiative, has a love of learning, values positive relationships and would be a valuable influence in working with a collaborative team, then this is the role for you. We would also consider applications from newly graduated teachers!
We offer a range of professional learning opportunities and great professional support, including support for provisionally certificated teachers through an in-depth mentoring programme.
If this sounds like you and you hold a minimum Level 7 New Zealand Diploma or Bachelor in Early Childhood Education Level 7, and are either provisionally registered or are fully certificated, we want to hear from you.
